Malaya is a Tom Wylie designed 45’ cutter. She was constructed by Cunningham Marine, and was built for John Cunningham. Her keel was laid in Subic Bay Philippines in 1976 and she was commissioned and launched in Vallejo California in 1983. Malaya is of cold molded construction, built with “Old Growth” Douglas Fir, Philippine Mahogany, and West Epoxy. I am the second “caretaker” of this fine yacht for the last 10 years. Malaya’s Stats: LOA 45’, LWL 36’6”, Beam 12’3”, Displacement (empty) 12 Ton, Ballast 5 Ton Hull Speed 8.78 Knots, Top Speed to date (GPS) 11.8 Knots Main Sail 500 square ft. Working Jib 478 square ft.
