yesterday was the first day of daylight savings time. In my opinion it rates right up there with thanksgiving and the first day of summer as my favorites. this year, the weather proved to be fantastic, and to celebrate, the CIP team decided to take malaya, our "test platform”, out for a spin. driving down to ventura from santa barbara I was watching the texture of the ocean, the nature of the cloud formations, and the clarity of the atmosphere. thought to myself, what our day of sailing would be like.

once down on the boat, the weather was quite warm, upper 70’s in early march, with 18 knots out of the south east and flat seas. last week end it was raining and the winds were gusting to over 30 knots out of the south, with 6-8 foot swells. amazing weather and conditions were on tap for our outing.

clearing the breakwall, working jib and single reef in the main we were pulling 6 knots plus, on a reach with very few boats out with us to enjoy the sunshine. and we had an extra hour to play.
